Great Return To The Festival Stage
The Big Music Festival in Kitchener and Bluesfest in Ottawa this past weekend marked a successful return for MOIST to the summer festival stage. Thanks to all the amazing bands and organizers for a great weekend of music and to all of the fans at both shows who were awesome and gave us so much support. There are lots of photos and comments from the shows on our FB page and here is a link to a review on the day from the Ottawa Citizen.
MOIST Summer Festival added
We’ve just added another festival to our list of shows this summer at Canal Days on Saturday, August 2nd in Port Colborne, ON.
This is a free festival open to the general public. More Info.
This is an exciting time for new music and we’re very happy to be a part of it. While we’re just getting started, it’s been an amazing experience making this new album together and having the first single, “Mechanical” so warmly received by fans and at radio. This means a lot to us and we are excited to get out and play more of the new songs for you this summer. We just wanted to take a minute to say thank you and to let you know how great it feels to be back making music together.
As you may have noticed at our shows last year, the spectacular batteur extraordinaire, Francis “Fortissimo” Fillion is the Moist drummer and, as one of the finest this country has to offer, we are very pleased he has decided to join us. Jonathan Gallivan has also joined our ranks as a second guitarist to beef up the rock onstage and add an exciting new element to the band. Jonathan has been part of our extended musical family for years and ‘brings it’ every time he throws a guitar over his shoulder.
As many of you may not know however, our brother and co-conspirator, Jeff Pearce, has decided to take a step away from the band. After completing the awesome run of shows late last year, MOIST started to pick up serious steam and it went from “let’s do a few shows” to full-on mayhem. Suddenly we were making a record, shopping for a new deal, planning tours and it quickly became clear that the commitment was going to be an all or nothing proposition. We all have families of various sizes and kids at different ages and stages in their young lives. There was no wrong answer to the questions we all had to ask ourselves and, in life, like with music, timing is everything.
The incomparable and very bad-ass Mr. Louis Lalancette is the new bass player. He is a phenom! An amazing performer, all around good dude and the heaviest bass player this side of anywhere.
Louis, Francis & Jonathan have been an integral part of writing and recording our new album “Glory Under Dangerous Skies”. Their’s are the performances you hear on “Mechanical” and on the rest of the album. We are very fortunate to have these gifted musicians and great people to call our bandmates and can’t wait for you to hear the album and see this band live.
-Kevin, Mark & David
